Metroid is one of 9-Volt's microgames in WarioWare: D.I.Y. It features graphics based on Metroid: Zero Mission.
The goal is for the player to help Samus Aran move across the stage. Using the Stylus, the player can tap Samus so that she curls into her Morph Ball. Tapping Samus again causes her to pop back out. Toward the middle of the stage, Samus must roll under a Skree otherwise she takes damage. After that, she must pop back up to grab a Missile Tank, much like the objective of Metroid-Morph Ball from WarioWare: Twisted!. If Samus takes damage from the Skree or fails to grab the Missile Tank on time, the player loses the microgame.
The microgame takes place in Brinstar, and it features a pink-purple platform that appears to be a part of the Space Pirate Mother Ship. The HUD shows Samus with 78 Energy, although this mechanic is not used.
In Assembly mode, the microgame consists of three objects: SAMUS, ENEMY, and ITEM. Samus has three animations: RUNNING, MORPHBALL, and KO'D. She makes the "POPPED CORK" sound while morphing, "BUMMED" when dying, and "BARREL HOP" when touching the Missile Expansion (a sound taken from the Donkey Kong game). The music is Brinstar (Metroid).
