The Power Game 1990 Calendar

The Power Game Calendar was an annual series of Nintendo-themed calendars released by Nintendo of America from 1990-1993. The page spread for each month on every The Power Game Calendar is accompanied by artwork pertaining to that game. Several of them also show one or a few tips pertaining to that game. The Power Game Calendar for both 1990 and 1991 feature images based on Nintendo Entertainment System games, one of them being Metroid.

In both the The Power Game 1990 and 1991 Calendars, Samus's helmet is depicted with a port visor similar to those of old diving suits instead of the visor from the game. Her Arm Cannon is depicted as a wrist mounted accessory, similar to diving harpoon guns.

Relevance to Metroid

The Power Game 1990 Calendar has Metroid used as the theme for November. The cover depicted three-dimensional pixelated sprites of Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus Aran, Pit, a Cheep Cheep, Link, a Starman, Princess Toadstool, and Wart.

The Power Game 1991 Calendar features Metroid for the months of March and August. The cover depicts Samus, Link, a Cheep Cheep, Princess Toadstool, Barba from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Mario, a Shy Guy riding an Ostro, and King Hippo.

The Power Game 1993 Calendar features Metroid II: Return of Samus for the month of June.
